Understanding RFID & AIDC

What is RFID and how does it work?
RFID uses radio waves to identify tagged items, assets or transport units. A reader captures the tag's unique data and passes the event to software, where it can support inventory, movement, validation and reporting workflows.

Explore the RFID guide
What is AIDC, and how does RFID fit into it?
Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) is the broader family of technologies used to identify objects and capture data with limited manual input. RFID is one AIDC technology, alongside barcodes, QR codes and other connected identification methods.

See the GarudaVigil AIDC Platform
How is RFID different from a barcode?
Barcodes normally require a visible code and one-at-a-time scanning. RFID can capture tagged items without direct line of sight and can read multiple items in a controlled zone. The best choice depends on the process, environment, item and required accuracy.

Compare identification approaches
Can RFID read multiple items at once?
Yes. A properly engineered RFID system can read multiple tagged items together. Results depend on tag selection, reader and antenna configuration, shielding, item material, orientation, process flow and the boundaries of the intended read zone.

Explore Skanixa reader systems
Does RFID always work without line of sight?
RFID does not need visual line of sight, but radio performance is still affected by metals, liquids, tag placement, interference and the physical environment. Site assessment and RF engineering are important for reliable, process-specific results.

Choosing the Right Solution

What business problems can i-TEK help solve?
i-TEK solutions support inventory accuracy, item and asset visibility, faster inward and outward processing, product search, encoding, checkout, movement validation, shrinkage monitoring, gate automation and connected supply-chain workflows.

Explore industry solutions
How do I know whether RFID is suitable for my operation?
Start with the operational problem, target items, process volume, locations, current systems and success criteria. i-TEK can then assess tagability, RF conditions, integration needs and the most suitable pilot or deployment approach.

Request a solution assessment
Does an RFID solution include tags, readers and software?
A complete solution may include tags or labels, Skanixa reader systems, edge devices, GarudaVigil, workflow configuration, enterprise integration and deployment services. The final scope is defined around the use case rather than a fixed hardware bundle.

View products and platforms
How do I choose between proximity, bulk and zone readers?
Choose PX for close-range transactional or interaction-led work, BX for deterministic bulk processing, and ZX for defined-area or movement-zone visibility. The right model depends on the object, read zone, throughput, automation level and workflow.

Use the Skanixa product architecture
Can i-TEK tailor the solution to our process?
Yes. Reader configuration, antenna layout, event rules, dashboards, integrations and rollout design can be aligned to the actual business flow. Standardised product families provide a foundation, while process configuration addresses site and use-case needs.

GarudaVigil AIDC Platform

What is GarudaVigil?
GarudaVigil is i-TEK's enterprise-grade AIDC Platform for connected physical operations. It brings RFID readers, AIDC devices, business workflows, enterprise systems and operational data into a secure, scalable environment for real-time visibility and action.

Explore GarudaVigil
What does GarudaVigil do with reader events?
It captures item- and movement-level events, validates them against business rules and expected quantities or locations, and converts them into workflows, exceptions, alerts, dashboards and enterprise transactions.

See platform capabilities
Can GarudaVigil connect with SAP, ERP, WMS and POS systems?
Yes. GarudaVigil is designed for enterprise integration with SAP, ERP, WMS, POS and third-party systems. The exact interfaces and transaction flows are confirmed during solution design.

Review an SAP-integrated implementation
Can GarudaVigil support multiple sites and business units?
Yes. The platform is designed for multi-location, multi-business and multi-geography operations, with business hierarchy modelling, role-based access, configurable workflows and central visibility across distributed deployments.

Explore enterprise deployment
What operational workflows can GarudaVigil support?
Typical workflows include vendor encoding and dispatch, DC inward and outward, inventory and cycle count, store inward, search, checkout, transfers, returns, movement validation and exception handling. Configuration depends on the organisation's process.

Skanixa Intelligent Reader Ecosystem

What is Skanixa?
Skanixa is i-TEK's intelligent RFID reader ecosystem: an integrated range of proximity, bulk, zone and infrastructure-grade systems designed as operational extensions of GarudaVigil. Products are organised around the business process they enable.

Explore Skanixa
How are Skanixa and GarudaVigil different?
Skanixa captures physical events through purpose-built RFID reader systems. GarudaVigil is the AIDC Platform that validates, governs and connects those events to workflows, dashboards and enterprise systems. Together they create a physical-to-digital operating layer.

View products and platforms
What do the PX, BX and ZX ranges mean?
PX covers proximity intelligence readers for close-range operations. BX covers bulk processing systems such as tunnels and shielded chambers. ZX covers zone and infrastructure readers for portals, overhead zones and smart shelves or bins.

Compare Skanixa ranges
What is the difference between a tunnel and a shielded chamber?
A tunnel is typically integrated with conveyorised flow for automated high-volume processing. A shielded chamber or cabinet supports controlled manual or semi-automated bulk operations where a conveyor is not required.

Explore BX bulk processing
Can Skanixa systems be monitored centrally?
Skanixa systems are designed to work with GarudaCare for device health, uptime, fitness, allocation and diagnostics. Central monitoring and support scope depend on the deployed configuration and service plan.

Integration, Deployment & Support

Can i-TEK integrate with our existing enterprise systems?
Yes. Integration can connect RFID events and workflows with SAP, ERP, WMS, POS and third-party systems. Interface methods, transaction ownership, master data and exception handling are agreed during discovery and solution design.

Discuss integration requirements
Do we need to replace our existing RFID or AIDC devices?
Not always. GarudaVigil supports multiple device and integration protocols, while Skanixa provides purpose-built i-TEK systems. Existing-device suitability is assessed for protocol access, performance, lifecycle, supportability and process fit.

Request a compatibility assessment
What does a typical RFID deployment process look like?
A typical engagement moves through discovery, process and site assessment, solution design, pilot or proof of value, integration, validation, training and phased rollout. The sequence is adjusted to risk, scale and operational readiness.

Start a project conversation
How are access and data security handled?
GarudaVigil supports role-based access and secure integration patterns. Final security controls, hosting, identity, network architecture, encryption, logging and retention should be agreed with the customer's IT and security teams.

Review the platform
